Scrub Valley

UX Researcher/ UI Design

Overview

Scrub Valley aims to revolutionize healthcare recruitment by creating a dynamic, user-friendly platform tailored to the needs of job seekers and service providers. It bridges the gap between healthcare professionals seeking career opportunities and employers in need of skilled staff, providing comprehensive tools, services, and features to enhance recruitment efficiency and satisfaction.

Role

solo UI/UX designer

Duration

8 weeks

Design Process

In this project I focused on Topic Researching, prototyping, and testing.

Research

Topic research

Through my topic research, I focused on two main pain points:

  1. Common challenges in medical hiring

  2. Key differentiators in successful recruitment platforms

To investigate these areas, I relied on medical HR reports and articles discussing healthcare recruitment challenges both in the Middle East and globally.

Following the research, I conducted a UI/UX audit of the current Scrub Valley website. My approach included a heuristic evaluation, focusing on clarity, simplicity, mobile usability, and accessibility.
I also mapped the user flow analyzing how easy it is for users like nurses to find job opportunities or for hospitals to post one.
Then I sketched a sitemap to assess the content structure and navigation.

Market Research & Competitive Analysis

I also conducted market research in order to understand the industry standards and key features of other recruitment platforms

Based on this research and evaluation phase, I was able to:

  • Define the key problems that need solving

  • Identify top features to retain or enhance

  • Establish a clear design direction for the upcoming redesign phase

Information Architecture

Sitemap

I built a sitemap in order to unravel the information and content on the current Website where I found a lot of unnecessary and confusing information, as well as several inconsistencies across the design.

Before

After

After analyzing the existing information architecture, I prioritized, simplified, and restructured the information to create a sitemap for the new site.

Interaction Design

User Flow

I identified the two main paths users could take to achieve the path described in the task flow above.
One for job seekers and the other for employers.

Sketches & Responsive Wireframes

I created a few early sketches for the main pages to determine which components worked best together.

I then adapted elements from my earlier sketches to create wireframes for the main pages on mobile, tablet, and desktop.

UI Design

Responsive UI

To ensure the website was resilient across devices, I designed the main pages in a desktop, tablet, and mobile view.

Next Step

Usability Testing

To evaluate the efficacy of the UI Design and application process, I conducted usability tests on 3 participants.

Other than minor concerns about the lack of an option to complete the profile at a later time, participants suggested adding a “remind me later” feature to encourage task completion without disrupting the sign-up flow.

Moving forward, the next step is to explore ways to effectively prompt users to complete their profiles during or shortly after the sign-up process.
