Simplifying Job Posting for Busy Recruiters.
Overview
Scrub Valley is a SaaS recruitment platform designed to connect employers with a wide range of healthcare professionals, including doctors, nurses, specialists, and pharmacy managers. The platform streamlines the recruitment process by providing tools for creating, managing, and tracking job posts efficiently, while ensuring that subscription limits and posting quotas are clear.
Within the platform, the Job Posting module allows employers to plan their hiring needs strategically and execute job postings seamlessly. Features like bulk posting, subscription tracking, and the new Assessment Plan integration help recruiters save time, reduce errors, and make data-driven hiring decisions.
Problem Overview
With the introduction of the Technical Assessment feature in job postings, recruiters faced a challenge: adding technical assessments to their job posts was not intuitive and could be confusing for employers. The feature needed to be accessible, easy to navigate, and functional, allowing employers to integrate assessments into their recruitment workflow without errors. Our goal was to design a system that made the creation, management, and tracking of assessments straightforward, while fitting naturally into the existing job posting process.

Simplifying Job Posting for Busy Recruiters
Creating a new job post in Scrub Valley is about guiding employers through a clear, structured process. The workflow is divided into three main steps:
1. Employers define the Job Requirements, specifying the role, responsibilities, qualifications, and skills needed, which ensures every posting accurately reflects the position and attracts the right candidates.
2. comes Employer Information, where the organization provides context about itself, including profile details and contact information. This step helps candidates understand the company while keeping the posting consistent across the platform.
3. Candidate Information, where we introduced the Technical Assessment as an optional tool to streamline hiring. where employers can create structured assessments directly within the job post. They can choose from multiple question types: single-choice, multi-select with partial credit, screening yes/no questions with auto rejection option, or free-text responses, and assign points or define screening logic.
The system automatically validates configurations, calculates scores for multi-select questions, and even allows screening questions to auto-reject candidates as mentioned, who do not meet basic criteria, reducing manual work.
Text questions are manually rated, giving employers flexibility for nuanced evaluation.
The Assessment Summary provides a real-time overview of total points and highlights any questions requiring manual scoring, ensuring the posting is accurate and ready for candidates.
Assessment Scoring System
The Technical Assessment section uses a robust scoring system designed to ensure accuracy and reduce errors while evaluating candidates. Each question type behaves differently:
Single-Choice Questions: Employers assign a total point value to the question. Selecting the correct option automatically awards the full score, while incorrect answers receive zero.
Multi-Select Questions: A partial credit model is used. Candidates earn points for each correct option selected, while incorrect options yield zero points for that option but do not subtract from correct selections. The total question score is auto-calculated based on the sum of points from all correct options.
To prevent mistakes, the total points field is read-only, and a helper text explains that “This field is auto-calculated. Please assign points to each correct option below to update the total score.”Screening Questions (Yes/No): Scoring is binary and tied to the expected answer. If the candidate selects the wrong answer, the system can auto-reject them, instantly updating their status while logging the reason in the candidate tracking page.
Text / Free-Text Questions: These are manually evaluated using a 1–5 star scale. They are excluded from the auto-scoring calculation but contribute to the overall candidate assessment during review.
The Assessment Summary aggregates the points of all automatically scored questions and flags questions that require manual grading, which provides employers with a real-time overview of the total score, ensures configuration correctness, and prevents the job post from being published if any question has validation errors.
Assessment Scoring System
The Technical Assessment feature transforms the job posting process into a structured workflow, allowing employers to evaluate candidates’ skills early and accurately.
All assessment results are seamlessly linked to the Candidate Profile, providing a clear view of performance and enabling informed hiring decisions.
